Community Policing

Special OlympicsThe Westbrook Police Department is a community-policing oriented department.  Our officers are constantly in the community giving back, connecting with people, and making a difference.  Some of the community policing activities our department is involved in are:

  • Thanksgiving baskets for the community - 80+ families receive a healthy and hearty Thanksgiving meal!
  • Holiday gifts for children who would not be getting any, and for elderly residents who have no one to provide them with gifts.
  • Blizzard Bash
  • National Night Out
  • Special Olympics
  • Visit numerous daycares and school groups
  • Participate in various open houses
  • Kid's Safety Day
  • Westbrook Strong 5k - with many officers running in full uniform!
  • K9 demonstrations
  • Sponsoring and hosting job and resource fairs for the community
  • Safety trainings for schools and businesses

The Westbrook Police Department operates a Community Policing Office in our Frenchtown neighborhood, located at 13 Reserve Street.   Our Community Policing Coordinator, Megan Perry, has her office there, along with our Recovery Liaison.  It allows for direct neighborhood connections.  The role of this office and the Community Policing Coordinator is to be an access point between the Police Department, community members, landlords, businesses, and local agencies.  This partnership helps to mitigate civil concerns and support the growth of community initiatives and social programs.  The office has successfully connected community members to local services, assisting with needs such as housing and food.  The Community Policing Coordinator works closely with the Police Department to address any criminal and nuisance activities in the community.  Our Community Policing Coordinator is responsible for coordinating our many community policing initiatives.

Westbrook PD is always looking for additional opportunities to get into the community.  If you are interested in partnering with us for an event or a cause, please reach out to us.
