This date marks the beginning of the "closed period", during which all voter registration applications must be made in-person at the City Clerk's Office prior to the election. February 13, 2024 is therefore the last date by which mailed-in voter registration applications may be accepted and processed prior to the election. The City Clerk's Office will hold special late hours from 4pm - 7pm on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 for voter registration and absentee voting in advance of the Presidential Primary scheduled for March 5, 2024. Please visit www.westbrookmaine.com/elections for more information.
February 29, 2024 marks the 5th day prior to the Presidential Primary scheduled for March 5, 2024. This is the last date by which a voter may request an absentee ballot "without excuse", i.e. without being required to attest to a qualifying special circumstance. This deadline allows the municipal clerk to complete the voter rolls and other election administration work prior to Election Day.
As of March 1, 2024, only those voters with qualifying special circumstances may obtain an absentee ballot. All other voters will be directed to vote at the polls on Election Day.
